Ford finally releases 2015 EPA ratings
So I think we see why they waited so long, they aren't that big of an improvement. The best possible is 26 highway, I think they were thinking at least 28 to match the Ram if not 30. Next year when they get the new transmissions maybe they will hit 28 but no way they will jump to 30. Now if Dodge would try the aluminum maybe they can hit the 30. I guess it's good news for me because I would have wanted one if it could get 30 highway!

I think getting 30 MPG highway would be easy in an F-150, since I believe the EPA ratings include air conditioning. So if you avoid AC, 30 MPG will be easy.
I know this because in the minivan I can get significantly higher MPG with no AC, and my dad says that he can get up to 40 MPG in his V6 Accord without AC. |
I cant wait until some of this tech gets to the full size van line.

The manufacturers KNOW what the MPG numbers are...THEY produce them and send them to EPA for *verification / validation*...and only THEN can the manufacturers publicly announce them!

I don't think they'll match the Ram's numbers until Ford brings the Cd of the F-150 down. They haven't published a number, only saying it's an improvement on the outgoing model which was around .40 if I remember right. The Ram is .36 in highway mode (lowered suspension, grill shutters closed).

Isn't the Ram that gets that a diesel?
I mean, that's great and all- but what would it be with gas? And getting <10% better FE isn't worth paying over 10% more in fuel costs. But I may not have all of the details, as I'm not really a chrysler fan. |

Fiat/Chrysler will start using direct injection in thier gasoline engines starting in 2016 models so efficiency should increase slightly. |

The full size Ford vans have the option of a small 5 cylinder diesel they need to put in this new F150 but it is a $6000 option on the van, yikes! |
