Was Ford just fined for being lame?

I heard something about the Prius killer officially being lame.

Who would have guessed that the top hybrid would be done in, not by a more efficient car, but by apathy to pain at the pump?

Ford settled two lawsuits based on claims of false advertising. This is connected to two vehicles

2013-2014 C-Max MPG. Ford reduced the MPG on the window sticker by 7 mpg after an EPA investigation. Owners sued. It just final reached a settlement and owners will get $550

2011-2014 Super Duty payload. Ford based the max payload on a configuration that was never sold that left out things like a spare tire, jack, tools, radio, and center console. I don't see a per customer settlement for this one.

Wow, that CMAX one is super old. Can't believe it has just now concluded.

Thanks Jason for partly decrypting this weird thread.

The CMAX is not lame, BTW. It's a fantastic car.

[gestures vaguely]

Who bought a C-Max and fought ferociously to meet the original EPA rating?

I didn't mean that the Prius was discontinued, although I have seen some clickbait titles suggesting it.

According to this, Prius sales peaked in 2012, with last year being the first year that sales increased since 2011.

I beat EPA estimates in all vehicles without trying. The C-max couldn't be achieved even with trying. They didn't just fudge the numbers a little, but by 18%.

The 2012 Prius was the best year to buy it because it included more features as standard (like Bluetooth phone connectivity), and the Gen III is a solid platform with loads of utility.

Don't know much about the Gen IV, but consumers continue to prefer CUVs, and now that models such as the RAV4 can get 40 MPG, they are becoming the more popular choice.

Also, tons of vehicles are getting MPGs in the ballpark of the Prius. Used to be you had to buy a Golf TDI to approach that fuel economy, but there's plenty of vehicles that get 45+ MPG now.

The problem with the Prius is that it painted itself into a corner. Each iteration is expected to get way more fuel efficient, but that's a game of diminishing returns. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if the Prius gets 55 MPG, or 60, yet the trade-offs to achieve that difference become significant.

Right, I tried switching from my phone to my laptop so I could continue this easier, but everything is working worse than normal.

Yes, fewer people are buying Prii because other hybrids are competitive, without looking as controversially:

However, I feel that more idiots are buying Tahoe or F150 hybrids, for example.

Sure, a Tahoe hybrid would have a larger gas savings over a normal Tahoe, but if you are just using it for an ego hauler...

I remember comparing a Camry and a Rav4, then saying that if they weighed the same and had the same fuel economy, Toyota was trying harder with the crossover.

Compare the prices on the Corolla and the Prius!

[I am guessing the Corolla price is the low end, omitting the upper end]
