Form follows Function?
Or did I get that backwards again? If you are going to be open to the weather, go with a motorcycle. I certainly don't want to drive any of these in February around here.

Those are just silly art projects. The original Mini was not far over 1,000 lbs made cheaply from steel, and looked good enough for BMW to copy it.

Nice designs. Makes me think of the Spinners from BladeRunner.
One problem : They designed the cars backwards.
It's too bad that people have the idea now that to be aero, a car must have a pointed nose and a rear that sticks up in the breeze.

Yay for art students that have absolutely no concept of engineering or the real world. Good luck with the job prospects.

I like the Nissan too, if you replace a lot of the clear plastic body panels, and get some windows (or removable roof) for cockpit ventilation. And I could go for the Honda, if they put an Insight powertrain in it.

The Edison2 Very Light Car weighs 830 pounds and seats four, and is very aerodynamic, too. These one on that gizmag are not worth a second look...

None of those are real; I just see a lot of computer graphics. How does one judge the weight of megabytes?
Quote:
The challenge for this year’s show was to come up with a design for “a 1,000lb [453.6kg], four-passenger vehicle that is both comfortable and safe, while delivering satisfactory driving performance without sacrificing the styling consumers’ demand.” Entries are being judged not only for meeting the weight constraint (no more than 1,500 pounds/680 kg with passengers), but also for artistic beauty, comfort, uniqueness of design, roadworthiness, sustainability, performance and user-friendliness.

I'll take a look when I see hardware.
