I finally got the opportunity to bring up the subject of the boat tail to my wife, and the results were much as I had suspected. My only regret is that I didn't snap a pic of her reaction . . . .

My mom has decided not to keep the car, after I fixed up her Saab to get ready to sell it she now likes the car again.

I'll be keeping the grill blocks and tail to hopefully include in the sale.
