french curve and drafting

I might have mentioned this back in 2007. Apologise.
I had the good fortune of 40-hours formal training, and many decades of enjoyable drafting / engineering graphics on my crazy projects.
If you're experimenting with and 'drawing' car modifications, and are not acquainted with the french curve, this video is a good introduction.
You may also want to check out 'ship-sweeps,' and 'ellipses.'
CAD, AutoCAD, and CAD-CAM software will have tools which will generate smooth curves between points.
A french curve and the two other tools mentioned can help provide the same function for 'old-school' experimenters.

Those French and their curves. The digital equivalent is the Bézier Curve.
Quote:
A Bézier curve (/ˈbɛz.i.eɪ/ BEH-zee-ay)[1] is a parametric curve used in computer graphics and related fields.[2] The curves, which are related to Bernstein polynomials, are named after French engineer Pierre Bézier, who used it in the 1960s for designing curves for the bodywork of Renault cars.
The only French curve I can find right now is a sheet rubber mask that came with a sand blaster.

I used french curves when I learned drafting too.
