Really guys, this is so darn interesting to me, I never thought about it but everything you have said makes perfect sense!

Well you want to keep fuel at a certain temp, you don't want fuel to hit boiling point cause than it might start doing all kind of crazy stuff.

Since the average engine tosses 2/3 rds of its heat energy away, that is where you will make the most dramatic improvement in efficiency.

Direct high pressure injection seems to tbe the way to go, with pressures approaching 20,000 PSI and beyond, you can really heat the fuel up without fear of boiling. In fact in the linked reference, it looks like the way to go is to heat and pressurize the fuel to the point where it will almost auto ignite without any compression. It may even go to the point where you use the exhaust heat energy to compress the air, instead of using the piston.

Guaranteed the days of the throttle restriction are just about over. Orbital was working on that. I notcied the OPOC engine is now using an electric supercharger. I look at it like my VX which used lean burn to essentially make the engine run in two parameters.

Normal for power
Lean burn for economy

I would love to see the previously linked setup on my VX
