fueleconomy.gov (help finding CRX HF stats?)

Hello all, looking for a little help, I think I know the answer but would like confirmation! Ok on fueleconomy.gov when I look up a 91 crx HF it shows 2 models. I am assuming 1 of them is the federal model and the other is the California model. I am hoping this is so as I just purchased the federal ecu for my California car. Thanks for any help.

You're right. Higher number is the 49 state model, however, the difference is not just the ECU.

Probably just throw some codes and mess your engine up.

You also need the 5 wire o2 sensor. I believe that's it though.

Alright now I'm 10 different kinds of confused!! I called 3 parts stores and they don't list different o2 sensors for a 91???? Can anyone else chime in on this? Thanks

They didn't have 5-wire O2 sensors on cars in 1991. The HF uses the same narrow-band sensor that most cars on the road do. It doesn't run in lean-burn mode, it just has a small engine geared very tall pushing a lightweight and somewhat aerodynamic shape around.

I believe that one of the differences between the 49-state HF and the CA-spec one is that the CA one is geared slightly shorter. Though I have read conflicting information on that...
