Maybe he had some blockage in the fuel system and the acetone got rid of it?
But no, most likely it just bends the laws of physics and burns at 150% of its caloric value.
And that's just with a little bit of acetone on a lot of regular.
Imagine what would have happened if he had added 3 times as much acetone: infinite MPG, probably the tank would fill itself up!
Better not do this with a full tank then
