Anecdotally... Even cracking the windows open severely disturbs flow over the back of a car... Not such a big deal when you're stopped But to determine if the aero hit is cost effective, you'll have to test yourself with instrumentation.

Sounds like something isn't right. You shouldn't be getting that low of mileage if your not driving aggressivly.

gas prices are cyclic and they will go back down.
do you have a pic of your truck maybe we can see something amiss.

i am thinking something is not right about your truck.
i don't believe the dealer, i hope i don't hurt anyones feelings.
any info like average speeds, weight, differential ratio, did you buy new or used etc.

a ton of driving tips on this site, i am confident if your willing embrace, the advice you can increase your mileage considerably. there are people on this site getting 20MPG with F250's, that is a 4100# vehicle. and you can too, if you like the game we play.

just one example tire pressures, we run at the max. on the sidewall.
also check alignment, brake drag etc
