hi there.

i came across this site first time years ago for a different reason actually..but since my daily commute recently became 18.7 km(11.62 mls) long, i am looking to lower its costs.

public transportation is not an option, so i got me this Mazda 323 C.
its a start i guess...
i do have to fix some stuff though first..exaust is broken and one driveshaft also needs a replacement. probably goin to change oil and service then, too.

and then i will try to improve my milage with mods..although i am limited here because of TÜV reasons..:( but i will try to go as far as possible,

i am supposed to average around 7.5 L/100km (31.36 MPG) right now.
my first target is 5 L/100km (47.04 MPG).

anyways, greets from germany

Welcome to the forum. Best advice I can give is to coast, coast, coast. Next would be traffic light anticipation.
Love the car, obviously they never came to the US. Reminds me of a CRX with about a generation of aero improvements.

Mech

Welcome.
Mend the car. Put 3 bar in the tires. Get an OBD2 tool like ScanGauge or UltraGauge if your car has an OBD2 port (post '96?). Keep the speed below 100 km/h.
Have to say that 50 mpg seems quite a challlenge with such a relatively short commute. I can hardly maintain that with my Insight under winter conditions, and my commute distance is double yours.
When it is freezing I lose more than a quarter liter compared to my average consumption just to heat up the car during the first 10 kilometer, after that economy is hardly worse than during summer.

That's a nice-looking car. You may be able to get LRR tyres, eventually replace some of the interior trim with lighter weight stuff, among other easy tricks. BTW it already has a nice Kammback...

Is that a pony surfing on the side of the car?

It's a surfing unicorn; saves gas. :)

Loose them fat wheels, and get a set of steel rims and more narrow tires to fit them.

Surfing the "wave", ie: aquatic equivalent of going faster than the wind with sail boats.

well this car didnt cost more than it would to trash it..for a reason! i bought it unseen but now i checked it and there is way more work to be done just to drive it than i thought, which is obviosly not worth it, so i will get rid of it...and look for a different one instead! but thanks for the advice so far, i will keep it in mind !

What's so wrong with this car?
