Getting only 14mpg in town hypermiling with 07 civic hybrid
I've heard cleaning erg valves and increase mpg quite abit, but for a car that is supposed to get at least 35mpg in town without ima electric motor, this seems totally ridiculous. No im not getting any codes.
So what could lower mpg that dramatically? Maybe a combination of things, of say plugs, dirty air-filter, bad gas, oem tires pressure, lack of LRR tires, etc, but it seems like something is seriously off here because that should only really drop it to say 30 mpg in town, and the worst part is that I am hypermiling just to get 14 mpg, so something is seriously off and I cant figure out what it is. t

Dramatically off fuel pump error, perhaps? Is this consistent from gas station to gas station? I've had air pumps go extremely off the deep end; tried to put in 44 P.S.I., got 65 P.S.I. out of a Sheetz pump. It's not like it's only one pump either, I more recently tried to use one of their pumps for a bike tire and although I only set it to maybe 25 (knowing it was off) it was going over 50. No, I'm not making this up.

Parking brake on and/or stuck brakes?
How far are you driving, < a mile or two at a time?
What are the specific "hypermiling" techniques that you are using?

I dont think so on the fuel pump or fuel gauge, if it is I dont know how to tell. As for air pressure, its at 35 fronts 32 back and I checked it myself using a digital tire gauge. it might just be bad gas, but that dramatically? Out of curiousity, would there be any harm in using 93 octane?

I was driving a few miles at a time at times, and combined that with some highway and got 30 average. Highway does ok, but in town is scandalous. Stuck brake? Not that I can tell, as I can hear it brake and know if its on or off. The hypermiling technique is having a light foot on pedal with slow acceleration.

That's gentle, yes, but not really a hypermiling technique.

It appears it was just bad gas, dont use philips 666 I guess. Still though, I feel I need to do a few other things to stabilize it at 40 mpg. Plugs, airfilter, alignment, etc.
