...lesson? Detroit MUST learn to invest for the far future, knowing that short-term loss is gonna occur -- as TOYOTA did with the Prius -- and "stick with it" until things finally come to monetary fruition!
...anybody else notice the article statement about there being "...NO mpg improvement.." but during the same time frames there was a "...27 percent increase in HP"?

Indeed.
It would be something if the next great thing mainstream US car manufacturers came up with was a lot better than the concepts they designed years before.
But looking at the Volt, that ain't happening either.

The GM Precept may have had a Cd of just 0.163 -- 20% less drag than the EV1:

What are the two circles in the lower center of the front bumper? The earlier pictures on this thread show that covered.

Machine guns?
That would be the best place to put a ram intake for ventilation.
On one of the pictures in post #1 those circles appear to be covered with clear plastic.

I like some driveline solutions from these concept-cars from late-90s to early-2000s, but their design tends to get old faster...

I belive those were GM's initial 'on-board vehicle avoidance system' sensors, called "Fore Warn"...which is now available on most GM vehicles.

And people wonder why Detroit went bankrupt! Who is really running the show up there? Our government maybe? They sure seem proficient at throwing away our tax dollars and digging us deeper into debt by the second.
