I don't remember but it was about 5 years ago. I didn't find out about it till after it was already dead.

Pumping all that COČ would require a considerable amount of energy, which in turn seems to be more likely provided in a way that would also generate some COČ. Would make more sense to redirect it to some industrial application.

It is standard practice to inject water into oil fields to replace the oil pumped out, maintain pressure and keep the oil flowing.
From the DOE:
"Class II wells are used only to inject fluids associated with oil and natural gas production. Class II fluids are primarily brines (salt water) that are brought to the surface while producing oil and gas. It is estimated that over 2 billion gallons of fluids are injected in the United States every day. Most oil and gas injection wells are in Texas, California, Oklahoma, and Kansas."

I was aware of that. No wonder most of the oil fields in my country are offshore, with saltwater being quite an obvious (and abundant) choice to inject into them.

The depleted Texas oil wells are a thousand miles from the sea and in a drought area.

Lol that didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would.
