Goodyear Fuel Max Tires
Anyone using them? If so, how do they perform. More specifically traction in snow. I'm looking for a good replacement set for my cruze coming soon. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking at Michelin Defenders 215/60/16, they are Green X rated so they should be considered LRR as well. Anways thanks in advance for all your replies and help in this matter.

Check out continental truecontact. Tirerack has the best comparisons available bbevause of the user reviews and their own testing.
Keep in mind, no tire is perfect and there will be compromises with all of them, depends what your priorities are.

Michelin defenders are extremely good, all around tires. It's what a lot of people that can't put Re92's on their car get.

I have had defenders before on the Machine but only on the rear, at the time I was not nearly as anal as I am now about ecomodding, so I never recorded any differences from my previous sets.

My wife has had them on the Escort several times when they went on sale at Tire Rack. 44psi sidewall I think (at least on 14's). Good tires, but not long lived. We could expect about 35-40k out of them...even when properly rotated, inflated, and good alignment. She was driving ALOT of gravel at the time, so that probably took 5-8k out of them right there.
They do really well in rain and sleet, so-so on ice. We rarely, rarely drive the escort on snow, because we live about 8 miles from the highway so I don't have an opinion there. I haven't had to buy tires for the Ford in a while because she switched jobs, but it seemed like these went on sale very regularly online when she was driving a bunch.

Assurance Fuel Max were the last tires I got for my Subaru. Loved them enough to get a set for the minivan. I didn't like them on the minivan because of the way they wore. Snow traction was fine.
I got Avid Ascends for the van and I'm pretty happy with them, I'll be putting them on the Fit when the time comes.

Seems to me like you'd be spending away all your fuel savings in the Goodyear name. Just get some cheap Chinese tires

I did the math, and you lose money and safety. Cheap Chinese tires don't have good traction on snow/rain, I learned this the hard way. I'm actually about to get new RE92'S, my current ones are down to the wear bars.

I totaled a car on Chinese tires. I swear I would have stopped in time if I had proper tires.
OK, the car was 19 years old - it did not take much to total it. Nevertheless, good tires are much more fun to drive on top of the longer life and lower rolling resistance.

I probably would have gone for truecontact or purecontact instead of my defenders, if availible in my size
