Hello just starting my adventure down the path of improving my fuel economy. Already have some promising numbers on both of my cars. Let's get down to it. The daily driver is a 1999 Saturn SL2 which is currently averaging about 28.4 mpg in the city. Not terrible as nothing has been done to it and it is coming up on needing a tune-up and what not.
The other car that I have (which I am hoping to soon replace with a Jetta TDI) is a 2002 Buick Regal GS. Yes, I know not much of a gas saving vehicle but I do like having the power when I want it! Right now, as of the last tank, it is hitting about 20.4 mpg all city driving which i find pretty respectable. With the next fill up on the buick I will begin recording the gas mileage and posting it to the fuel log. I filled up the Saturn yesterday so I have one tank documented on it already.
I'm contemplating getting a ScanGuage as I have seen that it is a very informative piece to the puzzle. Especially for the Saturn that really has no equipment to speak of. The Regal does have a MPG monitor that I don't use but has proved to only be off by about .5 MPG from my manual calculations so I was rather impressed.
Just saying HELLO!
