Has anyone raced their eco-modded car?

With all of the aero work that goes into some of the cars on this site I'm curious how well the low cd would translate for an event like the Silver State Classic or BBORR (Big Bend Open Road Race).
Participating in one of those is on my bucket list.

They're not really "races" per se, more of a high speed TSD Rally. You enter a class which has a target speed and the one who comes the closest to that speed over the 90 miles, or however long the course is, wins. Super accurate and precise gauges and instrumentation are a definite advantage.

I'd be very interested to see what kind of mpg one could achieve at 95+ mph over 90+ miles.

I raced a Miata all the way to work down 92 this morning, while carpooling with my wife on our daily commute. He was in the fast lane, and he kept dusting me at the lights (where we actually had to stop), but at the next light there I'd be, right next to him again. We did it all the way down 92 through Lakeland to Auburndale where I turned off.

It was technically a tie since we were both sitting at the same light when I broke off, but I still consider it a win since I averaged about 70 mpg the whole time, lol!

Motoring Memories: Crosley at Le Mans, 1951 - Autos.ca

In 1951 it was called Index of Performance. Crosley won at Sebring, but was undermined at LeMans because they had to fit a French generator to pass inspection, which failed.

Well, I put a grill block on the Mustang haha, I don't think it helped with anything other then getting the car up to temp quicker.

Thanks for the link and the videos, Cd. Great stuff.

Bummer about the grill block, Balto, I was holding out hope it would make a noticeable difference with my Mark VII. There are definitely a LOT of low hanging fruit with regards to my car's fuel efficiency!
