Has there been an ecomodder.com challenge?

This could be fun.

How about an ecomodder.com challenge?

Have a cross country eco race, similiar to the One Lap or rent a track and run the cars to see who can go the furthest on a tankful ( everyone runs a regulated tank size with accurate measurement )

Seperate gasoline, diesel, ethanol, cng, lpg, propane classes ( just using available fuels )

Aero and non aero classes

Show and shine

Bonus points given to doing it on the cheap ( maybe a dollar limit for everything )

Regulated fuel flow meters, mpg displays ( no cheating! )

Special prizes for highest mpg at fastest speed ( for the speed freaks out there, so if you pull big numbers at 65 mph or better you should get something for it )

Highest mpg without hypermiling

Tell me what you think.

I believe there was once a discussion about what such a race would look like, but I can't find what I had in mind. But here is something close:

Game's on! Ultimate Ecomodder Fuel Economy Challenge

An EcoModder first: "drag racing" (side-by-side coastdown competition)

I read what was linked but we need to get folks from behind the computers into the crucible of head to head competition. Tightly watched, no BS, filmed, everything.

Thinking like the X Games but for real people on real budgets.

Sounds complicated to get everyone in the same place. Perhaps we could make it regional? Then a national. Or perhaps solo trials something like the Iron Butt motorcycle riders? Catching cheaters with the Iron Butt model would be tough.

Sounds good. Talking to the mods about this is definitely in order.

That's what'll win you the election. Until recently, anyhow.
