Hello from a 01 Focus Wagon in California

I have ~110k mi. on my Focus with an automatic and it's bone stock. It's been a great car for my 40 mile round trip commute. It also has performed great picking up lumber, hauling stuff to the dump, and camping with a German Shepherd. The majority of my driving is 70 m.p.h. driving to work, unless traffic is really bad. I've been tracking my mileage for about 2 months now and I've seen an amazing difference based on my driving 'attitude'. I've started coasting more and driving "with an egg under my right foot". I've removed the roof rack cross bars and wipers, no idea if it helps but it makes me feel good. ;~)
My second car will be a 85 Toyota MR2. I bought it for $180 with a blown engine. I'm replacing the engine with something with a bit more umph but should still get good mileage.
-Ken

Hello Ken & welcome,

What kind of mileage are you getting? And what engine is in your car? My wife had a 2000 Focus wagon with the ZTec 1.8L, and she only "tried" to get good mileage recently -- and she now has a Scion xD. She got 26-32ish, IIRC, and the car has ~145,000 miles on it.

I'm getting an average of 28.9 with a high of 31.7 and low of 27.5

The car has a 2.0L Ztec.

Good thing you got the Zetec and not the SPI engine. Welcome to Ecomodder!
