Hello all.

After some lurking, I decided to join ecomodders so that I can actually put in to action some of my ideas on getting a few more mpgs out of my 1995 Nissan Pickup XE.

Here are some of my partially researched and unresearched ideas:

1) Domed hubcaps
2) Grill blocking
3) OBD I to OBD II swap
4) Truck bed aero mod of some kind (I have several ideas ranging from a cap to just removing the tailgate.)
5) Rear diff swawp (possibly getting a rear end from a 240SX)

If anyone wants to weigh in on any of these ideas, please let me know. Good or bad. I'm interested.

Hi there, yeah .. um ... removing the tailgate .. a no no. While in the closed position an open bed will form an air bubble to divert air over the bed for drag reduction. Running open tailgate negates all that and the flow seperation causes more drag and less benefits. Obviously, well designed covers like the one BONDO designed are optimal, but heck even a standard flat tonneau is better than open tailgate.

What about those air gate, net things? It seems like a inexpensive, short term solution. But, only if it works.
