So after buying a new car and doing several Google searches about how to achieve better gas mileage, Ecomodder was consistently coming up. You all seem like a great bunch of people, and so I would like to join in the fun.

About me:
I really enjoy philosophical discussions, especially those pertaining to spirituality. I had a life changing experience about four years ago (no, it didn't involve a car crash and dying for 5 minutes!) but I believe I've found something worth investing my life into. I enjoy music (about to finish my BA, hurray!) and computers. I like cars a little bit too. Soo...

Here's my car:
'98 Honda Civic DX Hatchback
Black, All Stock (except of course the CD player and speakers)
Oh, and the previous owner looks like he did an accidental antenna delete.

Here's my MPG per tank so far with the car:
29.5
31.0
33.9
33.8
39.4
These are the results of some adjusted driving habits and aired up tires.

So, I think there's a lot of potential with the car, and I'd like to see what I can do. I've got some ideas already, but this thread is just to say "Hey!" and introduce myself and my equipment, so we'll save that for another thread.

Welcome to the site JMac. The civic is indeed a vehicle capable of some great mileage.

What is your normal commute like?

My normal commute is a half-mile walk to work/school.

When I drive, it is usually for groceries, or to go visit friends and family. A tank usually lasts me about two weeks or so, although sometimes there are exceptions.
