This seems to be a good base for a hypermiling-oriented project

Renault 4 - this one specifically was made in Argentina

Well, altough it's not streamlined, its extremely light weight (600kg/1323lbs.) is a good point. The engine is mid-mounted, behind the front axle, which leads to a good weight balance. It was originally fitted with 4cyl engines around 0.75L to 1.1L. And in spite of its size it's actually not so cramped inside.

This car is not mine. I was just pointing out some project features that would make it a good inspiration for a hypermiling-oriented project.

Nuts. I was actually looking forward to what you would do with that vehicle. I agree, would be an interesting project car...

Dude -- with that screen name & avatar pic -- it's a natural for you. I can just see that face popping out of that car when we're all stopped for a light.

Yes, we can see the worthiness of the car as your project. The nomination passes herewith.

(And the above is completely in jest. I much enjoy your posts as I come across them . . I tend to learn from them).

I'd rather try to make an aluminium-bodied replica, attempting to go even lighter. Also, its windows seem to increase the drag comparing to a fold-down one which is the current standard.

It's a design from 1961, so it has its own limitations which actually doesn't seem so impossible to overcome. The mid-engine layout could even allow to increase the front clip design if the radiator was a little tilted back...
