Benz - '88 Mercedes 300TE

Hi guys. Noob here /w 1988 Mercedes 300TE

I own a 1988 Mercedes 300TE and I was wondering about this SuperMID that I read in the sticky at the top.

My w124 300TE uses a Bosch K-Jet CIS....is it possible have this thing fit? I would love to be able to see what MPG I am getting if at all possible. It would really help me figure out what the car likes doing.

I get roughly about 17mpg average. I have a misfire going on which I am trying to resolve so I should get back up to about 21mpg when its fixed.

Can somebody explain to me why the blocking of the radiator increases mpg? Wouldn't that impede MPG because you are basically making more drag?

Thanks,
Robert

Yes from the economy thread sticky! I didn't think there was anything I could do for my TE, but I figured, what the heck might as well just register and see what comes out of it.

I'm most interested in the digital economy gauge as opposed to my factory vacuum one....but I'm not sure if its possible or has ever been done on a w124.

well, there might be something. Not having even some form of electronic feedback from a fuel system sucks. Damn the om617

Thanks I read through and I actually did a few of the things (such as removing my roof rack bars.

Anybody know about the SuperMID for my car?

The SuperMID measures the injector ON pulse width on each intake cycle for fuel usage.
I think it does not work with your CIS-E (Continuous Injection System - Electronic).

Ok thanks for the clarification Yoshi! I thought I got nothing to lose looking into this. Oh well. I'm doing alot of the general fuel use tips!!
I'm now anticipating hills and popping into neutral as much as possible and turning off the engine when I get to my street as its a straight run.

You guys sure popping an Automatic into neutral while driving is ok?
