Hi from Wi!
Hi, everyone!
My name is Brody, and I live in Sheboygan, Wi. I am 20 years old, and I'm currently enrolled in an Engine Research & Development associates degree program at a nearby college. I have always been into racing cars, but now that I'm in college, I haven't been able to go racing this past year due to the cost of college, and I have been trying to save pennies wherever possible, including my cars. I have always been a hot rodder at heart, and love going fast, but I decided to change directions a little and try and save gas rather than hot rodding around. lol. I have always been interested in design and theory of cars, and getting better fuel efficency has a lot to do with design and theory, so I'm pretty interested in this.
Anyways, my daily driver is a 1999 ford escort zx2, and I have already done a few small things to it to make it get better mpg, such as running narrower tires than stock, and running a taller 5th gear. I plan doing a few other things, but nothing "too" radical, as it's in rough shape, and I don't want to put tons of time into it and then blow up it's engine or have something come apart from the major rust issues.
I also own a turbocharged 2003 ford escort zx2 project car (I bought it with some minor fire damage, and i'm going to eventually fix it up.) as well as a 1992 mazda 323 that I will be building into a race car. I also own a 1992 mazda protege, which was my race car up until a few months ago, when it got wrecked beyond repair. I hope to use the aero section on here to make my 323 a bit faster, by reducing drag as much as possible.
Anyways, I hope to learn a lot on here, and hopefully everyone is ok with me asking questions about aerodynamics for my race car, even though it's not really going to be a fuel efficent vehicle.
Ps:
Is there anyone local to me on here?
