Help me range extend my wireless!

Hi everyone,

I would like to do some work at home using an outbuilding on my property as a small office.

(Save gas working at home!)

I need to have internet access out there for that all to work.

I have wireless networking on my laptop computer and a typical home wireless router.

The outbuilding is about 100-150 feet away. Anyone have some tips to make a cheap/simple setup to make the wireless network go for me?

For example, I am thinking of a cantenne, matched rummage sale satellite dished repurposed, something like that.

I really don't want to dig a trench that long to drop in a Cat-5 cable!

Any ideas?

Cantenna + big foil fans on the router antenna (it works).

I Googled "make wifi range extender" and got this.

Uni-Directional WIFI Range Extender

No statement on range, but it looks cool, so I think I'll make one!

And here's a corner reflector that looks real easy to make :

I used 2 of these 2.4 GHz 24 dBi Die-cast Grid Antennas
2 of these PROVANTAGE: NETGEAR WG302NA WG302 802.11g Prosafe Wireless Access Point
and 2 46 foot towers to build a 3.6 mile wiFi bridge long ago. It worked well until lots of people got WiFi Christmas 2004.

When you run power to the trailer, just run ethernet/phone at the same time.

Your "trench" doesn't need to be much for just ethernet, more like a square shovel slice deep and poke the cable down the slot with a flat piece of wood or something.

Read me! Kinda overkill, but you shouldn't have to worry about dropping a signal from a couple hundred feet away.
