' the looks '

I believe that the Clarity is Cd 0.25. That's not a bad starting point for modding.
MOTORTREND's reporting on the 2016 Toyota Mirai, hydrogen fuel cell car had it an average 510-Wh/mi., and combined 67-mpg-e.
I don't know if the Clarity has similar performance, but if so, it suggests that 'Hydrogen' cars cannot perform at parity with BEVs.
Purchased new, some fuel-cell cars included a couple years of free fuel.
Kelly Pleskot of MOTORTREND's Mirai demonstrated real world mpg below the EPA rating. With a 56-mile daily commute, range was below 312-miles, and she had to refill the car twice a week ( see August 2017, issue, page 97 ).
Base price was $ 58,335.
2017 Tesla Model 3 started at $ 36,000, and up to $ 60,500.
262-Wh/mi.( actual ), 120-mpg-e EPA HWY, 2.225-gallons-e, 267-miles range 'HWY', as per EPA metric.. SUPERCHARGERS 'everywhere.'
The BOLT appears to hit it's EPA HWY rating at a constant 77-mph.

To be clear, we got the plug-in hybrid model. It takes gas when you're out of EV range. IIRC the vast majority were sold as PHEVs. There were a limited number of EV versions (terrible range for EV-only) and hydrogen models leased, but I don't think you could actually buy them?

Wow, I'm very bad at prediction. The exact opposite happened. I was getting close to purchasing a used Chevy Bolt, but holding off with the assumption the battery fires and recalls would drive prices down, and then used car prices spiked 40%. Then, inflation debased currency 30%.

I should have spent all my money in 2020.

There's still about a little less than a half tank (weirdly holds only about 7 gallons total).
Too bad it doesn't have a 10 gallon tank like the Prius PHEV. It made estimating range extremely easy and accurate because you just look at what the average MPG has been, then add a zero to that to get the total range for that tank. At 50 MPG average, the car would go 500 miles on a tank.

Looks like for those that don't plug in, their range might be somewhere near 280 miles on a tank. You need the battery to break the 300 mile threshold.
