The Honda Gear, a fixie concept
Not introduced at the bigger/influential Detroit Auto Show, but Honda unveiled the GEAR at the Montreal Auto Show. An concept analog to a 'fixie' bike, a bare-bones & lightweight but trendy lifestyle product. A very basic model wide open to customization/personalization...eco-modding?

I like the look; too bad it's got high tech crap that doesn't impress me on it.

A couple winters in midwestern salt will take care of that.

I heard lots of marketspeak for "hey look, we made a sportyish two door hatch back with shiny things in it" we will see if it gets made, and if it really ends up being a simple little hatch, will it be any better than the fit?

It's very likely a reskinned Fit.
Not a bad thing to be. that fascia on a Fit would be wild.

A fit skinned something similar to a CRX, call it the FRX? would be something interesting.

According to the article "it’s practical but fun, customizable, connected and affordable." Sounds like all the stuff you don't want would be an extra-cost accessory.
If it's true to it's inspiration it has one speed, no clutch and no brakes.
