The restructuring of the Marysville Motorcycle Plant will lead to increased parts production for cars and light trucks. The activities at the Marysville plant and Hamamatsu factory will be consolidated in the new Kumamoto plant. Overall, this will
increase Honda's total U.S. parts count, not the other way around as your post implies. Gold Wings, VTXs and such have been manufactured in Marysville since 1979 so no "support U.S. vs. Japanese workforce" argument will fly.
They are also doing this restructuring WITHOUT laying off a single employee; quite an underrated achievement. When looking at American manufacturer's woes with the UAW, strikes, part shortages and component manufacturers filing for bankruptcy, Honda is doing more to help the American workforce than any American automaker is.
