So no matter what heat i take from the chimmney, the airflow would still hopefully be strong. I thought of haing the chimmney in the down position due to the cooling effect on the gas and therefore that would in theory, help the gas flow, if help were needed. Again, i'm open to suggestion.

I've got a blower on my oil burner, but having draft pulling hot gas up the flue
is pretty important too. Since if it was all air pressure from a blower at the
bottom, any leaks would be blowing gas out into the living space.
The vacuum effects of the hot flue draws in air, instead of forcing it out.

I really need that suction effect when I'm burning wood in my boiler..
Without it, every time I opened the upper door to add wood,
the basement would fill up with smoke.
