Wow. That music takes me back to 1992.
Ugggh.

I read that the reason this car was dropped, was due to increased crash standards.

50 MPH ? What does a G1 Insight get at 50 ?

I see a nice update to the Volkhart-Sagitta—the pontoon front fenders, the compound-curve greenhouse, even the drivetrain packaging. 45 years later. Similar Cd.

1992 doesn't seem like 23 years ago.

Having had seat time in a Herman-Miller Aeron chair and a cheap knockoff; I'd say the bar at the front of the seat cushion would cut into your legs. It needs more contour.

Yeah I lol'd at that!

If Turtle dropped below 100 mpg at 50 mph, I'd be working on it this weekend!

Gotta admit though, pretty cool for a 4-seater. Wonder why they bothered with the smooth wheel covers on those back wheels?

I don't think they specified cylinder count, but if it's a 2-stroke 2 cylinder @ 111HP, 170 is about right. They gave ~175lbs as the weight of the engine, but I'd hope that's for the whole pod as the Insight's 3 cylinder only weighs 125lbs crated (one person who ships them claimed it was actually only 95 dry, on Insight Central) and the 5MT with it weighs 56lbs.

Really neat car though. It's unfortunate that GM probably crushed it.

EDIT: Has me thinking about a seat swap too.

Cd of 0.19 is awesome! 1400 pounds is impressive. They even seem to have solved the front bumper challenge.

I love the seats, as well. I wonder how the double wide gull wing doors worked in rain and snow?
