I installed My brother's communication app on the new iPad, transferred the 31 stores and fast food places from mine, personalized buttons with his name, where he lives, and Mom's phone number, and added a button for me, and one for his age.
It's faster, so I may add the rest of the buttons to his, and then send the file to the other iPads.

I'm happy for you, but where is Tinker Town?
I mentioned 'Bicycle for the Mind' and today the Simulation responds, via Hacker News, with this:

Quote:
How the Consumer Computer is Consuming Computing
August 23, 2022
When the personal computer went from being a “bicycle for the mind” to a surveilled shopping mall.
Early personal computing was filled with grand proclamations about the benefits of the technology. The PC was touted as an empowering “bicycle the mind" and networked machines were set to connect people near and far. Forty years later, PCs and other small computers are connected and ubiquitous, but the benefits are unclear.
...
Our contemporary personal computers, tablets, and smart phones are more accurately described as “consumer computers.” Some machines may be used as a bicycle for the mind, but they were primarily designed from the beginning as products of consumption.

Except that certain tasks that to me are normal workflow can become tediously difficult to learn. Behavior changes depending on hard / medium / soft press, and that depends on long or short press. I just want to move some icons around, not play handsy with a Chinese device.
I still email photos to myself since iPhone doesn't support sending via Bluetooth or to a network location. Suppose I could plug the thing into my PC since it finally allows only photos to be accessed via removable drive in Win.

It's where the Linuxmen live!
Whenever I need to send myself notes, pictures, files, clips, whatever, I attach it to a gmail draft.
My brother used his brand-new iPad to ask to go to this cursed location:

At least Google was smart enough to lie about knowing where McDonalds is?
We can rest easy knowing that Google will take care of the difficult problem of deciding what we should know.
