How do we feel about the iPhone/Android app, Automatic?

Automatic: An Auto Accessory to Make You a Smarter Driver

Has anyone seen this thing? $100... Same as a SGe. Coincidence? Has anyone actually used it? Can someone that has either of them compare the differences? I am looking to get the SGe for my daily commute.

I'd be interested to hear from someone that has owned this product and one of the others common to the community.

My guess is it doesn't add much, if anything, to the fee Torque app for androids. The Bluetooth Elm237 device that talks to Torque is $10 on Ebay. It's very hard to beat $10.

The UG also comes out ahead in the price dept at $70 I guess. Wow, is it that high? I thought I got mine for $45.

While I would love to, I can't justify a new phone right now. ;) (iPhone user currently.)

Why not Ultragauge?

This is why.

The features just are not there, dollar-for-dollar.

Thanks for that PDF comparison - very good. Glad I kept my scangauge II.

I don't think the PDF makes an accurate comparison. Download the manuals for both and do your own. See two examples below.

I use a cheap wifi obd connector from dx.com and the Enginelink app on my iphone.
The app isn't much, but it does the job...
The big plus of a SG or UG is that it does its work all the time, also when using the phone for music, calls or navigation.

I agree, my Ultragauge seems to have many more gauges available out of the box than my Scangauge did. I feel that the Xgauges are the biggest advantage the SG has, but they're mainly for hybrids and the SGe doesn't support them. And the current version of the Ultragauge can show 4, 6, or 8 gauges at a time, which is handy. For a Focus, the UG should do everything you need, unless there is some feature the SG has that you absolutely must have.
The SG does have great support, mine was having issues with my Escape Hybrid, they told me to send it in for them to check it, a week later I got it back with a CAN only cable that made it work perfectly. Haven't dealt with UG's support, but the rebate is terrible to do, I would just plan on it costing $70+shipping.

Really? even though scan gauge costs twice as much, and the only things that ultra gauge can't do that the scan gauge can are record a few maximum sensor readings, and custom user programed gauges.

Looking at the PDF some of the yellow and green highlighted features that the ultra gauge lacks and scan gauge has are highlighted in red in the ultragauge column (it has those features so, not sure what the color codes imply).
