I agree, for such a short distance, you really need to block/cover the grill up.

The other mod would be to alter the resistance value of your coolant sensor, so that the ECU doesn't add so much fuel, during warm up.

And lastly, pump up your tyres to around 45+psi, so that when you redo it, say once a month, or once a tank full, it will still be around 40 or so psi.

Just a quick update.

Finally finished getting the numbers calibrated for the MPGuino and now have some good tracking of fuel consumption.

The tyres were pumped to 40Psi (sidewall max is 44) some weeks ago
Unfortunately for this tank I had to tow 3 loads and had a lot of long drives so the meaningful data isn't there in the tank.

The car certainly handles better with the tyres inflated, and some vibrations are noticable (but I've nicknamed the car 'Rattles' for a long while).

9.2L /100KM seems typical for most trips which is still higher than I'd like.

I want to get onto testing the grill block after I get some consistent data which should be possible now that the MPGuino is accurate to a good percentage.

After calibrating today, I went for a trip lasting 17KM and got figures of 7.2L/100KM from MPGuino.

I have seen on other forums that cruising in Neutral can be bad compared to having the car in gear and letting the wheels spin the engine, because the injectors should shut down over X RPM.
So, I've taken that to some different method and now to slow down, I make the engine rev up over 3000 RPM, it's a little noisy, but to slow down it works better than braking.

I was going to use "Corflute" to block off the front grille, but I need to ensure I get data on whether the fan is running, and times the engine to heat up (which is easy to get once I get the code up on the MPGuino), but it won't happen in a near future.

I'll be sure to record and update that information when I can get to it.
