How many Ecomodder's are running management?
I was wondering how many of us are using some type of aftermarket engine management?
I'm running Neptune on my Del Sol and Crome Pro on my son's Civic. Both of these cars are turbo-charged. But it got me thinking what the gains you could get from a N/A engine with management? So is there anyone on here using a after market management system on a N/A engine? If so what improvements have you seen? |
I think anyone running a megasquirt would qualify (CoyoteX figures prominently but there are some others using it):
megasquirt site:ecomodder.com - Google Search * *MegaSquirt - Electronic Fuel Injection Computer by Bowling & Grippo * * Kit Carlson designed/made his own ECU based on the atmega: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ment-5104.html I'm not fluent in the commercial offerings though, but here is a google of ecomodder for "neptune" neptune site:ecomodder.com - Google Search I imagine there is some of this sort of thing going on in the xprize entries, zerofuel needed a custom controller IIRC, not sure if jpstaub (tdi/insight guy) did or not. Might also consider people who are modifying sensor signals to trick the ecu into doing what they want, i.e. an efie (tweaks o2 sensor signal) http://www.google.com/search?source=...&aq=f&oq=&aqi= and/or faking out the IAT signal, etc... |
I used to run Chrome, but no longer. I will probably have MIMA in the future, if that counts :p

I currently use eCtune with my turbo civic. A few years ago cromepro nearly turned me insane.
I'll have to buy more hardware for the new NA project though - won't be too long. The initial costs of tuning are tremendous |

I'm not using management, but if it would help enough, i would try it...
I figure if i can do this well with a heavy car and only half the mods and no Scangauge, i am in good shoes and should be able to hit 50 if i go high dollar.(just don't have the money, i spend it on gas, HAHAHA even at almost 40 mpg...)

pgfpro -
If I knew then (early 2006) what I know now, I think I would have invested in an Apex EFI. CarloSW2 |
Thanks for all the replys.
I find it interesting that one can improve on FE and performance over the factory and still pass emissions. I have tuned over 10+ cars that have reported fuel mileage is now better then stock. Also 8 of the 10 of these vehicles are now FI. I think that at the OEM level they can't get to aggressive with there timing tables. Plus they don't have individual timing and and fuel trims etc. |
