Molasses rust removal's dark secret | by Andrew Reuter ...

Previously, a ton of commenters on my vinegar vs. rust video had mentioned that molasses rust removal was the way to go. So I thought, maybe this is a chance to try it out.
Using molasses to remove rust from iron
https://christinedemerchant.com/mola...t-removal.html
Apparently the chelating agents found in molasses, mainly cyclic hydroxamic acids, are responsible for molasses rust removing talents. These cyclic hydroxamic acids are particularly effective to chelate iron and make it soluble. It seems that molasses works for iron but can damage other metals so use it only for iron rust, not all corrosion.
