window screen for grill block

I was reading somewhere, might have been here, that using window screen will make a great grill block. At highway speeds lets only a little air in and at low speed lets in lots of air. Has anyone tried this or did I misread. I was operating on very little sleep and cant find the link again.

...yes, it'll work, but only until the screen becomes clogged with bug-guts and road debris, then you'll have a problem.

...screens were popular during the 1950-1960's as "bug-catchers" but the fad soon waned as overheated radiators (especially in summer while crossing southwest desert) was their downfall.
