Here is what you need. Run a 24 gauge wire to the interior to remotely control the heavy gauge cable that goes from battery to alternator.

Well, that's the same question Oldtamiyaphile. Pulling fuse (there is no such fuse in my car) throwing manual switch, operating relay switch, ...it's the same question: is it safe to suddenly interrupt or remake the +ve power connection from the alternator, especially while the engine is running?
