I Fell Into a Youtube Rabbit Hole of Fire
Fell down another Youtube rabbit hole last night after watching a "Smarter Every Day" video and seeing a video recommended on this channel.
https://www.youtube.com/@StuffMadeHere/videos
In one video he wants a mural painted on his shop wall, and asks the rhetorical question, "why spend a week painting a mural when I can spend 3 months building a robot to do it for me".
The most interesting to me was the handheld pool cue that doesn't miss.
Once he starts building useful things, we might have way better solutions to things like how asphalt shingle roofs are installed, or laying tile. Seems silly to me things like laying tile is still done by hand instead of 20x faster with more precision by a machine. I've ranted elsewhere at the inefficiency of bespoke structures and finishes in other threads.

"Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black."

Which version of man in black? Gummit or preacher? Could possibly be both?
trick to laying tile is the gaps in the mortar being sufficient enough to spread out and mortar viscosity.
That and knowing the high spot location of the underlayment

It's Current Year again, already.
I know OP thinks fossil fuels are a net benefit to humankind.
Today's Power Corrupts is courtesy of Suriname:
Something mind-blowing is happening in Suriname
Corruption follows power like night follows day. But in the big picture, h ot abiotic oil is still not disproven. Meanwhile molten salt Thorium reactors are productized in European countries that are not Germany.
edit:
Also, the lead story reminds me of the Maslow CNC router.

I'm catching up on the latest Alex Epstein as I read this. I've not encountered any coherent objection to any of his statements yet.

I'll give it a listen. There's quite a lot of oil deposits waiting to prosper South American countries, but the people demand corruption over prosperity.

Ah, going to Wiccatopia for information on a person. Anyone can say anything there, so it's a disgraced misinformation platform. Back in 2000, I had teachers instructing me that any reference to Wiccatopia is invalid.
Alex has never denied climate change. You'll not find evidence of that anywhere.
What do you you disagree with? Show the relevant video clip of his dozens (hundreds) of hours of recorded speech, not deceitful accusation of a long discredited so-called source of randos on the internet.
I'll happily restore some credibility to the randos at Wiccatopia if you cite where Alex "denied climate change".
Wiccatopia is useful for being reasonably confident when some famous person was born, or when a car model ended production, but anything that doesn't involve dates or other concrete facts is often Cognitive Dissonance.

That's a fair critique. I'm always wanting more to challenge my assumptions, but if that's as deep as you're wanting to go now, I'll accept that.

Oh, The Irony! Now I'm shamefully and thoroughly discredited!

You say that like it's a bad thing.
At least you recognise the authoritarian-libertarian cross-axis. Left-libertarian is a null set.
