Congrats. Good car. My Ma has had one of similar vintage (2005, I think) but automatic for a good long while now. She really enjoys it, it's a nice-driving car although I find the FE isn't all that plentiful.

Between working at a parts store and witnessing it firsthand, the two main problems are motor mounts which wear out (I can't recall which one, anymore, but there was a specific one which liked to go), and thermostats. The thermostat kinda sucks only because you have to buy the entire thermostat housing to replace it, which kicks the cost up a little bit.

Everything else has been shockingly reliable. Hers has just created 100k miles.

My Mazda3 is a 4-door sedan automatic. My average mileage with about 32000 miles on the odometer is at 44.3 mpg, according to data on my Fuelly account. Almost all this mileage is on the highway.

It's been a great car for my needs.
