I won again
My first win was finding a 92 Honda VX .. 6 years ago
Well now my VX needs a new fuel pump, good thing I won again I bought a 2000 Insight!!
Just as luck would have it less than a week after I managed to FIND a 5 speed 2000 Insight in way awesome condition with 103,000 miles, with a/c, my relentless VX had a fuel pump die .... Perfect timing !!!
So far the Insight has had 68 MPG as an avg for prolly 5/8ths of the tank, without knowing how to drive the car for MPG.
Driving the VX for the last 6 years has definitely allowed me to get the amazing MPG on the Insight, But I'm just amazed at how ez the Insight is to get MPG in compared to the VX.
So far all I have done is add my 40 watt solar panel to the Insight to boost up the 12 volt battery while parked.
Well ok I have also installed an old Scanguage 2 and tried to stop the wet seat belt dilemma that seems to plague these cars.
I can't wait to learn more about the Insight, I honestly never expected to find one.

Lucky bugger. They don't pop up very often on the island here, and when they do, they always want 5k for them! In spite of having 200k on the clock. Yeesh.

Yeah, driving an Insight almost feels like cheating... people work so hard to get say... 50mpg, and you can drive an Insight like a total jackass and get 55.
Current tank average on my 2000 silver: 69 mpg, only trying a little bit.

Woo, congrats on the Insight. I wish I could find one that isn't a heap for less than $5k too!

I worked hard for years to get my Festiva to 60 mpg, and then blew that stat away the first tank with my Insight. Nothing else (affordable) will ever touch it

Ok the first tank was 67.61 USMPG!!
I am happy .... for now ...
I have removed the stupid front plate license holder and lowered the plate a bit to block more of the lower grill, I have removed the added heavy Insight logo carpet from the hatchback area, there was also a way heavy Steel license plate holder on the rear plate..
This almost compensates for the added 2' x 4' 40 watt solar panel to help boost the 12 volt battery .
I wonder if there are any somewhat local Insighters that have an IMA Battery Booster / Discharger / Balancer/ Charge controller, that they would be willing to let me use?
I am wide open to suggestions that will get me into the 100 MPG area.

BTW ...
This was bought near Victoria on the Island, for $5000.
I just couldn't pass on the idea of getting an Insight.
It was posted on Craigslist and I saw it within 30 minutes, I figured it would be gone to fast to worry about.
The next day it was still listed .. I acted faster .. I got it!
It was not the color I had hoped for .. CITRUS ewe but whateva.. its an Insight and a 2000 to boot

Congrats! Getting one with that low miles is good, however... I say this all the time, and I say it again. When it comes time to spend 2,000$ on the traction battery, you are going to regret buying one. All that money you saved in gas is gonna go right out the window. People here contest, but the 'new' batteries only last 3-6 years before giving up.
At 100,000 miles, 40 vs 65 mpg at 3$ a gallon is only going to save you 1500$. So even driving 25k miles a year, you really aren't coming out on top. Even if the battery lasts 6.5-7 years, that's still 15-20k miles a year.
