What plastics for front airdam...?

Pretty much as in the title really?

I'm running a 1990 Eunos/Miata and want o block the air intake and make an air dam. Preferably all from one single sheet of plastic.

Problem is I run my car low and although the occasional scrape on speed bumps is to be expected, I'd like too build it from something with a bit of give, elasticity?

What do people generally use?

are Eunos/Miata same as the Miata we see in the US ?

if so here is a purchased solution from a vendor

but i also would like to know what material to fabricate an air dam for my Big Hog Dog Bronco

i was thinking of aluminum sheet , if i caught a curb or a high spot just beat it back in place

I'm currently running a fibre-glass air dam, but its more for 'show' then funtion.
I was thinking about Aluminum, but as far as I can remember from school, dont you only get one chance to bend/form Ali? Trying to re-shape it will cause it to fatigue and crack?

(I'm dying to put a few pics on here, but am still under the 5 post rule...)

chat it up just one more post to go.

something like this ?
Moulded from ultra tough polyurethane for strength and flexibility.

the Track Dog Racing Extreme Air Splitter fits up to it .
i have the idea that performance aero will work weather your running flat out or at most eco cruise

i looked at moss US and moss UK.. looks like the same part in US for 179 USD vs 332 pounds UK .. quite a difference

That one pictured above is exactly what I'm running at the moment.

The one I'm looking at building is less restrictive and will be turned out slightly at the ends to afford a little cover for the wheels which are quite exposed.

looks to me like you are pretty low already..

maybe some proper shaped fairs [wings] on the side formed of fiberglas and fitted ..that fair fitted does not seem right to me either, ,, the track dog splitter is made of fiberglas and fits on top of it i think .

if i were to use grill blocking i would want louvers so i could get engine cooling air in there when i needed it .

IDK what your wheels are like but here they show data 4.5 % gain for smooth full wheel covers .. Pizza Pans .. having a little cash i went with Chrome Moons

edit: those wheels look aero to me , i dinna think you'd show 4.5, pizza pans would be unasthetic and moon wouldna fit

Ride height isnt the issue, I've got 100mm of adjustability to play with.

I'm thinking of incoporating an amount of adjustability into the block, so as the weather gets better I can increase airflow.

Looking into 'gurneys' too, but not sure I like the look?

People have used coroplast, stiff rubber, Walmart or Lowe garden edging , ... to produce air dams.

Your car is so low already that I wouldn't use anything solid like alu, nor solid and brittle like fiberglass. It's not going to survive on UK roads.
I'd use something that flexes but regains its shape, and is easily abraded by the road.

You mean something like this?

I think you can find this stuff sometimes (used) at recycling yards.
