Would this really work? (Cordless drill powered EV)
Ok, I saw this on youtube and it looks kinda cool. The one guy is using what looks like 4 Dewalt 36volt drills to power an Australian subcompact. Do you think a setup like that could be used reliably for an around town commuter car? How long do you think the drills would last? What kind of performance, if any  , do you think it would have. I'm assuming the use of a similar subcompact like a stripped metro or festiva.

I think you'd be burning out drill motors on a pretty regular basis, and at a pretty low road speed

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought, but I just found that video today and thought it was a different and cool idea. The cost of the drills would be prohibitive if they kept needing to be replaced.

I run my drill off my car... I don't think I'd run my car off my drill, though.

He needed to make a water-cooled casing for all the batteries and wires to keep them cool

I have those batteries on my bicycle, on a bike they are good for about 15-20 miles.

You have the 36V ones? Wasn't that kind of expensive?

I think I figured my 12v dewalt was good for 1/10 hp. Just imagine what 4 of 'em could do!!

I once thought about using old drill batteries to power an EV, from broken drills that I buy... if I could make a casing that they all plugged into, they'd be easy to swap out/replace as necessary. It never went any further than a thought, once I figured out that often, it's cheaper (in relative terms) to buy the drill and battery together than it is to buy the battery alone. At least back when I was thinking about this - dunno about now.

Monster Garage beat you to it!
They converted a '62 (I think) Bel Air into an EV drag car using a pile of lithium drill batteries installed in a custom "battery chassis" type of set up. And a pile of individual chargers.
