Top fuels and Funny cars burn about 40 gal per mile.

Let's see, 10 gal/6 seconds , that's 100GPM. Explains the 1" fuel lines.
Nice Jason, what is your brother running? I slowed down as I got older I was in an altered a few years back just drove events and match racing for show, toured 1/2 season with Federal Mogul circuit. I decided a long time ago closest thing to Nitro I will drive is an RC car lol.

If you want to talk crazy fuel a Jet car uses insane amount of Kerosene to make a run.. I know they carry extra 7 gallons so they can put on a show... If I remember correct they have 25 gallons in total or something like that depending on whose car it is... forgot the rules on them its been some time. Now that is a lot of fuel to go 1/4 mile.

My car, I was running Alcohol but started the swap back to gas I am detuning it to drive on the street once more (changing pulleys) It has been sitting 4 years now destroying expensive tires that were never used..

I had a Mercury Marquis in the early 80's and around town it would get 2-3 mpg. I think it must have gotten 10-12 mpg on the road. It had the 429 or 460 eight cylinder. I didn't keep it long.

While normally I hate hijacking threads, this one, meh.

He doesn't run, he's a builder. He has done quick stock and pro mods.
Then he spent a few years in a shop that did drag boats out in Arizona.
The shop he is at now in Shelby NC, the owner is retiring in Sept so he is on the hunt again.
Let's say the 350 in his Toyota Supra isn't very fuel efficient, but it is fun !

1970 was the continental MARK III, not 4. Both had 460ci engines. 365hp gross early on and 200something net later. Id say 8 mpg would be average lol... 1-4 if you are romping on it all the time. Especially since there was no overdrive or lockup then...

Obvious troll.

My Dad drove an M60 battle tank, fully loaded at 140,000lbs driving over medium density forest making a road (aka through 4" trees) he roughly got 3 gallons per Mile, one third of this guys 6000lb lincoln but he was moving 23 times more weight in mud, climbing hills, smashing trees.

His lincoln makes an M60 battle tank seem fuel efficient.

they need to make the ratings read as miles per gallon per pound, to factor in weight. pound for pound, the 40,000 Ton displacement ship I was stationed on gets better mileage than my Jeep
