Improving aerodynamics from cab to camper shell

1 Attachment(s)
Just bought a 2000 f250 7.3 2wd. Has a camper shell that's more squared off than flush with the cab roof. So until I can get the proper aerocap I'm looking for, I need to improve the gap between the can and camper. I'm attaching a pic. What I'm thinking is the seal that goes along garage doors to try and improve the wind turbulence. Y'all think this will have any improvements?

Even if the gap was sealed completely you still have the step that will detach flow for half the length of the shell. Are there any attachment points on the cab where you could add a transition piece?

Unfortunately no attachment pieces on the truck. I Was thinking of some kind of adhesive for the garage trim to attach to the truck so I could take it off when I do get my aero cap. I thought maybe the trim would more or less smooth the air flow from cab to camper.

Suck a cord through pool noodles (whatever they are) with a vacuum cleaner, stuff them into the gap and tie the ends off to the frame?

Rare earth magnets?

What adhesive did you have in mind?

When I started building my gap cover fer my cab to camper gap, I looked at everything.

Adhesives won't have enough holding power because as soon as the air catches underneath it, it will git ripped out in short order. :(

You could try some expanding foam to git the shape you want but keep in mind that the truck will flex and the nose of the gap filler will git impacted by the back of the cab. You want to distribute any force across the face of the camper that the air is gonna to apply to yer gap filler. Once you settle on the shape, I would use some latex paint to protect the foam with. ;)

The solution I eventually settled on was a cover that floats on top of the cab and my aero cap (aka front access doors) that are hinged. I have some Tyvek tape on the cab to allow the rubber gaskets to float on the cab due to flexing of the truck frame. I need to upgrade it to some 3M clear 5 mil plastic film as the Tyvek tape is worn in spots. ;)

This was one of my first attempts on a gap cover. :(

BTW...where abouts in Texas are you? ;)

Here's my aero cap build thread... ;)

The cavalry has arrived. Listen to BamZipPow.

Thanks BamZipPow!
I'm gonna look into your ideas, hopefully something works because this cap is useful for the time being.
BTW I'm in lubbock but currently in albuquerque on a clinical rotation. I'll be near Houston in about a month for another clinical

BTW, did you notice any improvements with filling in the gap?

My gap requirements isn't the same as yers are fer aerodynamics but mine was fer minimizing water intrusion between the cab and aero cap. As far as aerodynamics are involved, I'm not sure it makes a big difference in my application. My front access doors/gap covers are mainly fer access to my cab cover. I can say they are working quite well at keeping water intrusion to a minimum. :D
