Have you checked out Aerohead's "pillow mod" on his T-100? It's in one of his albums.

My uncle does custom airplane upholstery and I'm sure he could rig something like this up in an hour or so provided the right materials. (You just need a good sewing machine) You could get one of those air pumps from a blow-up mattress to run it, or just hook up an old A/C compressor.

Visibility would be a problem no matter what material you use.
