The Brazilian VW SP1 and SP2, surprisingly beautiful cars and the best part, their sublime rear profiles. Brazil did NOT allow imports into the country so the Brazilian VW subsidiary set out to build a sportier model. Their independence allowed them to design and build them. They designed a sleek body on top of a VW Type 3 frame. Sadly they were too underpowered (65 hp) and the similarly powered but the lighter & fiberglass-bodied VW Puma was more favored by the sporty car buyers. After four years, they only produced 10,000 models.

I love the looks of the SP cars. And some of the Pumas are cool as well.

BTW, I have read that many Brazilians claimed the SP stood for "Sem Potencia" -- without power, referring to the bog-standard VW lump powering the car. Sounds great for our purposes, don't it?

SP was for Sao Paulo but point well taken. Some Type 3 and Karmann Ghia modders swap modern Subaru turbo boxers in them. Need to add a front grill opening/radiator though.
