It looks like a bulked up hydroplane racer
Was there a picture of the hull configuration?
edit: Nevermind.

Why am I fantasizing about making a yacht out of two PBY-5A Catalinas?

hull design
'wish we had a 3/4, or plan-view from above. That would tell the tale.

That is cool.
I did not review the link, does the craft have any aero trim elements to fine tune attitude depending on speed or cargo/fuel/etc?
Seems to me, its a great candidate to do back flips ala mulsanne straight antics.

Go to their website and poke around, looks to have some rather large flaps at the rear underside.

Porpoising and or oscillating pitching might be computer automated controlled I'm guessing.

Virtually no wake at high speed

An arguable claim. It's a good platform but not s great as the M-hull which has asymmetrical hulls and the center hull to create the counter-rotating vortexes. It has a flatter wake.

I've read some people in a boat forum really poo poo the M-hull as a marking gimmick. I however like it and see some merit to it.
The craft in the opening post is very much like the ram-air SES ( Surface Effect Ship) diagrams of the 1970's that did not have flexible bow and stern skirts nor lift fans.
In fact, the Russians and Finnish had made the very first hovercraft or skimmers in the 1930's, full scale, armed and worked somewhat similar to opening post.

Photo, Left: P-9 during initial trials in Spring 1939- the Red Star and ”CCCP” were painted on the sides to confuse any Observers, as it was known that the USSR was conducting trials on a similar type of craft designed by a Soviet engineer, Vladimir Levkov. It was hoped that any sightings of the Finnish craft would be confused with the Soviet Navy craft that had been observed carrying out trials.

Apparently still much confusion about which craft were Russians and which were actually Finnish.
The Hovertank however is all Russian.
