Pilot Automotive makes what they call the Ultimate Adjustable Blind Spot Mirror, part number MI-142Z. It's not listed on their website and I've only found it at AutoZone for $11.99. I've found it on eBay fer about $20 shipped from other sellers. It's designed to stick to your windshield with 3M tape and can be adjusted up/down about 4", swivel, mirror is offset so you can flip it over,and the arm can be raised/lowered as well. The mirror is made from glass instead of plastic and should hold up to fine scratches that plague the plastic ones. :D

I've pulled my previous blind spot mirror out and replaced it with the Pilot Automotive one after I took it apart and hard mounted it to the A pillar trim.

I've been trying to find out who I got the idea from on here. I remembered that someone was modifying them in some way. Thanks for the update!. I was just thinking of getting another set just in case they stopped selling them. I got them at autozone too. They are much better than my stock side mirrors for reducing nighttime glare from the newer oem ultra bright headlights that feel like they're on highbeam aimed at my retinas:cool: I can see much better around the driver's side as well. I use the passenger's sideview pilot mirror in combo with the rearview spot mirror to see along the passenger side better too.

Here's my current layout. You can see that I haven't replaced the left mirror yet. ;)

how well do they work at night? can you take off the outside mirrors now? I know its a pickup with a trailer. and you need good mirrors.But for a car? I was just about to buy some $5 3" plastic round mirrors as I will need them when my boat tail is complete. I should spend a little more if they are worth the cash..

I'll find out how well they work tonight. These are supposed to have an anti-glare coating on them. I didn't have any issues with glare on the previous ones since the headlights aren't directly aimed at the mirrors unlike the outside ones so I don't expect these to have any issues either. ;)

I like the fact that these mirrors are glass. I had some serious issues with scratches building up on the plastic lenses. The previous mirrors I had aren't made any more so this was my next progression. I have noticed that the angle isn't as wide as my previous version but hopefully I'll be able to adapt quickly to the new ones.

I never liked the blind spot mirrors on the outside...especially during inclement weather like rain/mist/snow/sleet/ice/fog as both the window and the mirror gits moisture on the surfaces making it near to impossible to see the mirror's reflective surface cleanly. The interior mirror doesn't suffer from that issue as there is only one surface (window) that can affect its performance and on my truck, my vent visors provides a clear spot where the blind spot mirror can usually see cleanly through. ;)

My interior mirrors were never meant to replace the outside mirrors as they can never git the direct rear view along the side of the truck that I need when backing up. The blind spot mirrors can't git that angle as they are inside the vehicle. I won't be removing my outside mirrors anytime soon. However, I will try a small blind spot mirror that I can mount on the edge of the mirror so I can see when the mirror is folded in...but I think that real estate will win out. :D

Is the image on the small mirrors large enough to see well?

I need 1 outside mirror for MD law. I disobeyed the law before :eek: and took them both off. I hated it. I was nervous all the time and put it back on the next day. I don't need both sides just the drivers side. If traffic were slower I would be fine I'm going the speed limit everyone else is going 20-30MPH higher.

I was thinking about using this for the outside mirror as it looks to be about half the size of the stock one.

If I may respond within BAMzipPow's thread,
I have the mirrors on both sides and I like them more than the OEMs. The nighttime visibility was a pleasant surprise I didn't anticipate with respect to high intensity light. I have very good vision so if you have problems see far I can't speak to the results you would have with them. I have a bigger problem with placement since the A pillars are an interferance. I understand why BAMzipPow wanted to mount the passenger one on the pillar instead of the windshield. It gets it closer to the side glass and around the pillar. If I follow his path I may not even need the spot mirror on the rearview for the cars further behind me. I'm extremely pleased with the one on the driver's side. Its plenty big there.
