Anyone interested in buying a nice Astro with a 6.5 diesel engine in it? I know where one is cheap
3500 bucks and it is yours.
Here is the listing I have on craigslist for it. It is sitting in my driveway now I never drive it really so I figure I am better off selling it before it starts getting problems from sitting around all the time. I have put maybe 200 miles on it this year. It is in Southern West Virginia.

1994 astro for sale with a 6.5L detroit diesel engine
I have a 94 astro that has a 6.5L detroit diesel engine in it. It also has the heavy duty 4l80e transmission. It is a great running van and has a ton of power. It currently has a stock injection pump on it but swap over to the 5177 military pump available on ebay pretty cheaply and it can run used motor oil or biodiesel. I already put the military surplus injectors on it and new hard lines less than 1000 miles ago. It has plenty of power and gets around 22mpg on straight diesel. Even towing about 5000lbs it gets 19mpg so it is set up right. I put helper air bags in the back to keep it level while towing. It has been gone through and everything in it is in great shape. is a video of the van running with the diesel engine in it. Rick’s Site » Chevy Astro is a link to the build log of converting it to a 6.5 engine. Right now the engine has 80k miles on it and the transmission has 50k on it. I have driven it 40k miles since I did the swap.
It has new front captains chairs with built in heat and massage and adjustable lumbar supports. I don't have the heat wired up but it would not take much to do it. The rear sofa has controls on the side to fold out into a bed. It has 5 tvs in it. The stereo has video out and can play dvds through the tvs. It has 4 speakers for the stereo and a subwoofer box in the back. I also have some custom disco lights and a ball mounted to the roof inside. The ball can be quickly unhooked to get it out of the way. for a video of the lights. There is also a super nintendo built in and a bunch of games stored in the overhead cabinets. The seats are in very good condition and are all leather.
It has a new paint job on it but the paint didn't lay out well it is hazy and needs some buffing to look good. I also have a 40W solar panel on the roof to keep the batteries charged. It has 2 main batteries to start the engine and a third battery in the back that powers the interior stuff when it is parked. This keeps it from getting stranded when camping or whatever. The van sits 2 inches higher than stock
The only thing wrong with it right now is the AC clutch is bad and needs changed. I have a clutch to go on it. I also have a lot of spare parts for it as well as a 14 bolt rear end to go under it and a G30 front subframe to upgrade the suspension to 1 ton specs. It also includes the programmer and a spare blank chip or two to reprogram the transmission shift points or lockup speed. The engine is mechanical injection so it doesn't use a computer to run. It can have the fuel turned up just by turning a screw on the DB2 injection pump. I also have all the parts needed to add the turbo onto it so it can have way more power than any Astro ever should really have. The turbo I have for it is almost brand new and has less than 25k miles.
call me with any questions about it. The last four digits of my number are 6765 and the first part is 304-688.
edit I just took the van to the truck nationals and it ended up winning 2nd place in it's class. The alternator went out when I was there and I am going to let it go cheaper rather than fix it. The solar panel on the roof is big enough to drive it without the alternator during the day so I still didn't even have any problems with a dead battery with no alt. So if anyone is wanting this van bring me $3500 in cash and it is yours. If I fix the alt the price is going up again.
