Jeep Liberty Air Dam

I'm trying to figure out how to attach an air dam to the front bumper of my liberty, but i'm not sure what the best place would be in order to keep it rigid. any ideas?

not my jeep, but looks the same, without the tow hooks

Couldn't you just build some brackets to hang it off of the tow hook bolts? ;)

i thought of that, but it would block the lower grill opening, i already have the upper grill about 70% blocked

the openings look like this

though i could leave an opening between the mounting points, and brace the air dam against the lip of the lower opening

The brackets won't be that wide to block the lower opening...maybe 1" wide each? Some 1/8" steel flat bar would work... ;)

You could even remove the front hooks and just use those existing bolt points. ;)

You'll still need to brace the air dam so the air doesn't push it back or fold it over. What sort of materials are you planning to use? ;)

I guess if you git really creative, you could probably hook the top of the new air dam onto the hooks and then secure the bottom with some other brackets. Would make it easier to put on/take off... :D

i can get brackets made to extend down to the bottom of the air dam, i'm not sure yet what material i'll be using, right now i only have coroplast

How far down are you looking to go? Do you do any off-roading in yer Jeep now?

Coroplast is fine but you'll need support behind it as it will fold over without the support.

My Toyota T-100 air dam mod... ;)

i don't do much off-roading, only in the summer when i go camping. but if i mount the air dam on the tow hook points it will be relatively easy to remove.

i can make a couple brackets out of some aluminum angle that would come straight down from the tow hook mounting points, at the bottom i could run a 1/8"x3/4" aluminum strip across and have 4 pieces of angle run back to the forward crossmember as bracing and then cover the front with coroplast. think that would work?

Give a try and see. How much you looking to spend on this project? :D
