just another new guy.

hey there, just another new guy.

Here's my small fleet.
'97 mister*****y eclipse RS
'95 silverado Z71 4x4

The eclipse gets pretty ok gas mileage 30mpg when I'm not hypermiling, 35 when I am. The truck only gets 20mpg even with hypermiling. It's terrible! I need to do an oil change with it and it could probably use a new oil filter. It has a flowmaster muffer, but I have a feeling that the piping isn't big enough. It has 2.5" piping when I would prefer it to have 3" piping. But I guess that's what I get for letting my dad take it to the muffler shop. I suppose I can get 3" piping later and put 3" piping on the truck and use gradually cut bending to get the right bends. At least then it WON'T have crush bent piping. I tell ya, you pay for a muffler service, and you get 2.5" ID piping with 2.25" ID at the bends. For a 5.7L engine, that's just too small. ugh, I'm sickend with this crap.

Welcome to the site.

Do you have any plans for either of the vehicles?

Well, the eclipse has a bosal header and exhaust, no catalytic converter, has a short ram aluminum intake, and 21lb/hr injectors, 60mm throttle body and 2.5" intake ducting (I've really got to change that..). I've also ported the intake manifold and the intake and exhaust ports. I also bored it out .020" and decked the head .0035" and degreed the engine to run with the less material on the head. The engine is running a strong 180hp at the wheels and it could be better with bigger cams and adjustable camshaft sprockets.

Still, hp/$. I've wasted money on that eclipse. I'm going for a 84-86 300zx next time around and actually have some fun.
